A clinical mental health counselor is a distinct professional governed by national standards. They provide professional guidance and support to people facing life challenges often manifesting in mental health and substance abuse disorders or both.

There are many reasons why people come to therapy. Sometimes it is to deal with long standing psychological issues or problems with anxiety or depression. Other times, it is to respond to unexpected life changes, such as a divorce, loss of a loved one, loss of a job, or a desire to pursue their own personal exploration and growth. In therapy, there is no magic pill. However, working with a therapist can help provide insight, support, and new strategies for all types of life challenges. Therapy is appropriate for anyone interested in making the commitment to self and taking the necessary steps to work on those areas of their lives that require change.

The information shared with the therapist is regarded with great respect. Generally, this information is deemed confidential. However, there are circumstances in which information in a client’s file may be shared, such as when ordered by a court of law. Information will also be released when the request is accompanied by an information release form signed by the client.

Because we are licensed psychotherapists, many insurance plans will pay for the therapy services that we provide. However, each health insurance plan may differ in terms of coverage and reimbursement policies. Therefore, you are responsible for knowing what your plan covers.

You are also responsible for the reimbursement of the services provided. Our office will work with you to complete any claim form needed for a refund.

Yes. We accept most insurance plans. Please check your health plan to determine if you have mental health coverage. Here are some questions you may need to ask your plan administration:

  1. Do I have mental health benefits?
  2. What is my deductible, and has it been met?
  3. How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
  4. How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
  5. What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  6. Is approval required from my primary care physician?

This will depend on how much progress you are making. Remember, in order for therapy to be successful, you must be an active participant in the process.
